ANNOUNCING THE FINALISTS FOR 42ND CANADIAN SPORT AWARDS

14 Winners in 4 categories to be unveiled in Toronto September 21st

OTTAWA (September 12, 2019) - AthletesCAN is proud to announce the finalists of the 42nd Canadian Sport Awards (CSA), Canada’s premier event for national sport achievement and leadership recognition. A select number of the 14 winners in the CSA’s 4 categories will be unveiled online in the lead up to the event while the remaining recipients will be announced live at the CSA Luncheon on Saturday, September 21, with more than 75 of Canada’s top athletes from over 40 sports in attendance.

Standout athletes from World Championships and X Games dominate the “Winter Sport Performance” category, while the “Summer Sport Performance” category honours top results from the Lima 2019 Pan and Parapan American Games and other world leading performances throughout the past year. The categories of “Influencer” and “Corporate Excellence” honour contributions made by athletes, system leaders and corporations that have had a significant impact on Canada’s sport community and society as a whole.

“We are excited and honoured to announce these exceptional finalists for the 2019 Canadian Sport Awards”, said Dasha Peregoudova, President of AthletesCAN. “Each finalist is a true representation of Canadian excellence in sport, and we congratulate them for their outstanding accomplishments on and off the field of play. We look forward to celebrating these individuals and corporations alongside the sport community in Toronto.”

CBC Sports returns as a key partner, bringing Canadians an inside look at the awards and a voice with the People’s Choice Award – open today for voting.

“As Canada’s Olympic and Paralympic network, CBC Sports is proud to be able to showcase Canada’s athletes on the national and international stage; many of whom are dominating”, said Chris Wilson, Executive Director CBC Sports. “Partnering with AthletesCAN to help recognize these outstanding women and men and inviting Canadians to have their say through the People’s Choice Award allows everyone into the conversation of which Canadian sport performance was their favourite.”
