October 27, 2020 (OTTAWA) - AthletesCAN is proud to announce the recipients of the 43rd Canadian Sport Awards (“CSA”). This year’s CSAs were announced during the 2020 AthletesCAN virtual Forum held from October, 23-25, 2020.

“In a difficult year for sport, we have been incredibly inspired and filled with hope by the show of passion, commitment, and positivity from our Canadian athletes and sport leaders,” said Georgina Truman, Manager Athlete Relations and Operations at AthletesCAN. “We are incredibly proud to recognize and celebrate this year’s recipients, and are once again reminded the power of sport has to inspire our nation.”

AthletesCAN is pleased to share the winners of the six (6) leadership awards, recognizing and celebrating the individual’s outstanding contribution to the betterment of sport.

Leadership in Sport Award
Jean Laroche, Para Athletics Coach

In addition to the Awards presented to the above recipients, a new award “People’s Choice Award for Most Viral Moment of the Year” was presented this year. The voting took place on an online platform hosted on CBC Sports, where viewers were asked to pick their favourite viral moments out of a short list of ten. Following thousands of votes, member of the para swimming Canadian national team Danielle "Dee" Kisser's DIY pool was the overwhelming choice of the public.

A special thanks to the the finalists, recipients, the Canadian Sport Award Jury, and for all those who submitted a nomination for the 43rd Canadian Sport Awards for making another year of Canadian sport and leadership recognition possible.
