AthletesCAN statement on lack of athlete inclusion in World Anti-Doping Agency partnership

One year after AthletesCAN joined the collective call for meaningful reform at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) and as WADA’s Executive Committee and Foundation Board prepare to meet this week, AthletesCAN supports with its sports partners holding WADA accountable while also raising awareness of the continued exclusion of athletes as equal partners forming WADA.

Alan Hudes to join AthletesCAN as Manager, Communications and Sport Partnerships

AthletesCAN is pleased to announce that Alan Hudes (Thornhill, ON) has been named to the new role of Manager, Communications and Sport Partnerships.

"We are thrilled to have Alan join AthletesCAN this week!" said AthletesCAN President, Pierre-Luc Laliberté. "This new role is critical to our new strategy. Alan will take the lead on increasing AthletesCAN's presence in the sport system and directly with canadian athletes."

AthletesCAN Statement in Recognition of the Canadian Heritage Independent Safe Sport Mechanism Announcement

July 6, 2021 –Today the Honorable Minister Guilbeault and Parlimentary Secretary Adam van Koeverden, announced that the Sport Dispute Resolution Centre of Canada will be the lead organization responsible for establishing the Independent Safe Sport Mechanism (“ISSM”).

The AthletesCAN family mourns the lives of the 215 Indigenous children found at the site of a residential school on Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation territory in Kamploops, BC. We send our condolences to the families of these children who did not make it home, as well as Indian Residential School survivors, and all Indigenous people across the nation.
