Nominations for the 41st Canadian Sport Awards are now OPEN!

(Ottawa, ON – June 11, 2018) On September 20, 2018, AthletesCAN will host the Canadian Sport Awards (CSA) in Ottawa, ON – a revival four years in the making. This iconic awards show was first established 45 years ago to showcase excellence in Canadian sport and quickly evolved to become the premier event for national sport achievement and leadership recognition.

Today, AthletesCAN announced its call for nominations for the CSA, which will award commitment, performance and leadership in sport related to accomplishments between August 21, 2017 and June 30, 2018 (with the exception of summer performance awards being extended to August 20, 2018).

The nomination period begins today and closes on Saturday, June 30, 2018. The performance awards nomination deadline for summer athletes is August 21, 2018. Finalists for each CSA award will be announced on September 5, 2018. Winners will be announced on September 20, 2018 at the Brookstreet Hotel.

"Building on the momentum of the 2018 Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games, it is our goal to engage Canadians across the country and build a unique celebration which honours our athletes and sport at all levels,” says Dasha Peregoudova, AthletesCAN President. “We encourage Canadians, both in the sport system and beyond, to nominate their sporting heroes for their passion, achievement and leadership contributions to sport and society.”

The 2018 CSA will bring together members of the sport, media and corporate communities to honour nominees in the following categories: Sport Performance, Influencers, Corporate Support and the newly added People’s Choice. Staple awards of past editions of the CSA will be preserved, while a fresh set of new awards have been unveiled to honour today’s diverse sport leadership landscape, including the Inclusion Award – Obliterating Barriers in Sport, and the #AthleteVoice Award – Rep of the Year.
